The Portable Device Manager is provided as a utility to help you manage your Intermec portable RF and Hard Wired device IP Addresses and monitor their connectivity. Use the grid to assign an Alias Name, Model and Department to your portable devices. Click the Print Report button to generate a hard copy listing of your portable and hard wired devices using the current sort order. To change the sort order of the grid, simply click on the column header of the appropriate field.
An RF portable or hard wired device acting as a client, establishes a connection to the EZ-Server upon the transmission of a transaction. After the initial connection with EZ-Server is established, it is maintained until either the EZ-Server is stopped manually or the portable/hard wired device closes the connection. EZ-Server supports an unlimited number of dynamic connections simultaneously providing the maximum possible throughput. When a device establishes connection, a record of that IP Address will be logged to the Portable Device Manager table (if one does not exist) and will display Yes in the Connected column.
If a portable is not being reported as connected but the portable device is displaying a connected symbol at the top of its display, this means that the portable has not yet transmitted a transaction, thus establishing a connection with EZ-Server. In this case, be sure all units in question are powered on and simply click the Ping Devices button to display an accurate connectivity list.
